18-07-2011: Ruim een derde van de Nederlanders maakt gebruik van mobiel internet. Dat is een forse stijging met 2007, toen slechts 20 procent mobiel internet gebruikte. Dat maakte het Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek (CBS) maandag bekend. De afgelopen drie jaar is een constante en explosieve stijging te zien. In 2007 maakte zoals gezegd een op de vijf Nederlanders gebruik van mobiel internet. Deze stijging is vooral het gevolg van het groeiende gebruik van smartphones met een UMTS-verbinding. Smartphones maakten in 2010 zo’n 16 procent van het totale mobiele internetgebruik uit. Dit was een jaar daarvoor nog maar 10 procent.

Mobiel internet via telefoons is inmiddels goed voor 20 procent van het totale aantal internetaansluitingen in Nederland. Drie jaar geleden was dat slechts 8 procent.
